Intelligent Contacts Expands Payment Security to Call Centers with PCI-Validated Point-to-Point Encryption (P2PE)

Leading provider of solutions for the call center industry provides the security and PCI scope reduction of Bluefin’s P2PE solution directly through their software platform

Atlanta, GA and Plano, TX – Intelligent Contacts, the leading provider of communication and payment solutions for the call center industry, and payment security leader Bluefin Payment Systems  announced the expansion of Intelligent Contact’s PCI-validated Point-to-Point Encryption (P2PE) solution to call centers in their growing client portfolio.

The two companies partnered in February 2016 to provide Bluefin’s PCI-validated P2PE solution through the Intelligent Contacts platform.

“Call centers have been taking payments over the phone for decades, but with so many high-profile data breaches and much stricter rules on how credit card information should be handled, the industry was looking for outside help to stay PCI certified,” said Intelligent Contacts CEO Jeff Mains. “Additionally, a call center is only as secure as its least secure computer – keeping every terminal secure enough to withstand a man-in-the-middle attack or even a PCI audit can be an IT nightmare.”

Intelligent Contacts connected to Bluefin’s Decryptx® solution, which enables gateways and software platforms to offer Bluefin’s PCI-validated P2PE solution to customers with no change to their current software integration or payment flow. Intelligent Contacts utilized the P2PE certified ID Tech SREDKey payment terminal, which provides secure card entry via a simple keypad interface.

One of Intelligent Contacts’ first clients to adopt the P2PE solution was a major provider of revenue cycle tools and back office billing support for the healthcare industry. With over 1,000 agents entering credit card data into their computers each day, achieving PCI certification each year was a painful process.

“This company had a unique challenge with such a large pool of agents taking payments,” said Mains. “Yearly PCI audits were creating a drag on their IT department. Basically, they needed a way to take 1,000 workstations out of scope during a PCI audit.”

The answer was to stop entering credit card data into computers. Instead, each agent was given their own P2PE terminal. By using PCI-approved devices to take all payments, the company eliminated about 95% of their PCI exposure, said Mains.

“It’s not just large call centers with thousands of workstations that find PCI P2PE attractive,” said Greg Cornwell, Head of Global Sales for Bluefin. “All call centers have multiple locations and agents logging in remotely. Having a uniform security solution like PCI-validated P2PE encryption creates the same level of payment security across the board, regardless of where the agents or centers are located.”

“Bluefin Payment Systems has become a trusted partner,” added Mains. “Their technology fits perfectly with all of our solutions, and I believe we’ve proven these P2PE devices aren’t just for retail POS systems. There’s a real need in every industry that uses call centers to take payments, from healthcare to insurance to finance.”
